Life on the West Side

Sunday 4.15: We had a nice birthday brunch for a friend. Sunday brunches are one of my favorite things in the world.

Monday 4.16: I actually worked this Monday, which is unusual for my schedule, and at the end of the long day, the Mister helped me make dinner and we watched The Voice together. A great way to end the day.

Tuesday 4.17: I met up with some of my bestest girlfriends for a mandatory meeting and a non-mandatory hang out time.

Wednesday 4.18: I was kind of in a funk on Wednesday, but I got an encouraging email from a good friend and a good workout which revived my day. Then in the evening, the Mister and I stayed up way too late dancing together at midnight, and not the horizontal mambo… although…

Thursday 4.19: A day off and the start of my weekend, yay! I was pretty productive and then was able to spend some quality time with the fam.

Friday 4.20: Another morning brunch and the Hunger Games with our favorite Cubans!

Saturday 4.21: The Mister’s company party and getting dressed in fancy pants… Aaaand the person who can’t take our picture well.

Sunday 4.8: Easter Sunday! We had such a fun time at our events.

Monday 4.9: I have Mondays off (for 2 more months…) and I got to meet up with the Hus and our friend for sushi lunch

Tuesday 4.10: I got out of class early and the Hus and I had a really nice, relaxing, lovie evening together

Wednesday 4.11: We had a happy-hour-turned-dinner-turned-late-night-drinks with our bfffffs. A 6pm happy hour turned into a four hour event full of margs and Jesus talk – an odd, yet great combo

Thursday 4.12: I was able to skype my beautiful European, jet-settin’, travelin’ sister. Then I got the hurrr did. The bangs are a little short, but I went darker and it brings out my sultry side (or it brings out my eyes… same thing, no?)

Or it brings out the creepy/bug eyes…

Friday 4.13: I had a surprise day off clinical (yay for CME requirements!) and was able to meet up with my long lost friend Rachel for lunch, then my other bfffff Janae for fro to the yo. Then I get home and Merrick and I exchanged Easter baskets! Easter week got a little too busy for us, so we postponed our baskets until Friday. I got wine and some of my favorite chocolates, that’s an Easter win!

Saturday 4.14: The Hus wasn’t feeling well, so we spent the day watching movies and hanging. I like those “nothing” days. Would you believe me when I said there used to be a day when I never cried in movies? Well there was. And now I cry in at the dumbest things ever – like the movie “Friends with benefits.” Cheeseball!

Oops, once again I’ve been a delinquent in documenting the best parts of my days. So here’s a quick recap of 3.4-3. 20

Sunday 3.4: It was date night! We’re wild and crazy kids and go to the OG (aka – Olive Garden). Not just for old people anymore! Try their peach sangria – delish! And they even gave us samples!

Monday 3.5: I had a good workout and was able to get some shopping in, where I met up with my crazy friend. We paroused the candy aisles at Target and thought of all the damage we could do to those Cadbury eggs… mmmm baby.

Friday 3.9: My SCB and I are pretty much in love with the Mr. and Mrs. SkinnyRunner because Friday I spent a good long walk with the Mrs. then we met up with the two of them for happy hour. THEN we went over to their house in the evening. Because being apart from them for more than 2 hours would kill us.

Saturday 3.10: Drove up to L.A. to meet one of my oldest, bestest friends and her hubby!

Thursday 3.15: Thursday was a good day. I got a sweet email from the Hus, had a great workout and a really good study day with my classmates.

Sunday 3.18: Dinner at the OG again! And this time we brought 2 more old cronies with us.

Monday 3.19: I took a study break and got sushi with the Hus and the same old cronies from the OG.

Tuesday 3.20: Finished my finals! And of course I stressed for nothing and I did well. Maybe my last semester I’ll learn not to be a spaz… Drinks with my classmates after finals and then chilling with the Mister all night made my day.

Sunday 2.26: We finished up our getaway weekend and had a good jam session on the way back to The OC (yes, I call it that)

Monday 2.27: We checked out a cool new restaurant for a friends birthday. Happy Birthday, Nick! We tried some interesting drinks (ginger martini? bleh!)

Tuesday 2.28: Tuesday was supposed to be completely packed with classes and meetings for SEVEN hours straight – no break, but somehow we got lucky and got a lunch break PLUS my meeting ended early.

Wednesday 2.29: Met up with some of our homies for dinner – the usual – Chili’s. It’s SO usual in fact, that when we walked in, 3 servers said hi and called Merrick by name. Awesome or awesomely sad?

Thursday 3.1: Thursday was a good day. I had a good girlfriends walk, I got to Skype my beautiful overseas sister, and the Hus and I had a very good meeting with a friend.

Friday 3.2: After a full day of studying, the Hus and I had a delish dinner, shrimp enchies… which turned out to be a wonderful variation on the usual chicken enchies… then spent the evening watching LOST together. That’s our idea of a raging Friday night, we’re awesome. And old.

Saturday 3.3: Happy Birthday Benji! I got a surprise card from my best friend in the mail… it was so thoughtful and unexpected and really warmed my heart. It’s the little things ya know?

Sunday 2.19: The Mister and I took a nice nap together after a good gym session together. The couple that exercises together… right?

Monday 2.20: I had some family in town! I sometimes forget that I have gringo family members and I made the enchies wayyyy too spicy! But wine makes everything better!

Tuesday 2.21: I had a big presentation at school and I nailed it. Bazinga!

Wednesday 2.22: This was a long, tiring day. But the Mister and I got fish sammies and did some errands after Ash Wednesday service.

Thursday 2.23: This time Merrick had family in town – nothing like a roof top bar on the beach at sunset in 70 degrees.

Friday 2.24: This was a busy week on our social calendar! We met up with some peeps for our friend’s birthday! And my absolute FAVORITE part? The photo bomb cheesing behind Xavier. I saw this picture and could not stop laughing. The guy came from a couple tables behind us and I saw him RUN to be in the picture! HA! Love it!

Saturday 2.25: Merrick surprised me with a non-work related trip to L.A. and a show!

My life is pretty great. I’m very blessed… I just need to remember to write down all my little blessings and best parts of my day again… So it’s here again, long overdue, a summary of what’s been going on for the past few weeks:

Sunday 1.29: I love our Sundays together… they’re relaxing, this day was sunny… we had a really nice day together that rejuvenated us for the week

Tuesday 1.31: Happy Hour with some of my peeps! Good drinks and good people in my life… what more could I ask for?

Friday 2.3: I had lunch and fro yo in the sun with a few friends then  had the longest ever fondue date which was hilarious and delicious, a perfect combo.

Sunday 2.5: San Diego harbor tour and a super Superbowl with our homies.

Wednesday 2.8: We had a welcome home party for a friend who just moved back to Ca. And welcome her we did, a la BJs pizza style!

Thursday 2.9: Went for a nice walk with my neighbor. I think she’s sick of me peeping over her fence and saying, “Howdee Ho Neighbor!” (10 points if you can name that show…)

Friday 2.10: Dinner with the neighbors. Italiano, princepessa!

Monday 2.13: I chaperoned a couple on their walk… leave room for the Holy Spirit, you two! No PDA until you’re married!

Tuesday 2.14: Remember when I said we don’t “do” Valentine’s day? Well I got the sweetest card from the Hus PLUS a dozen beautiful roses! We completed our Valentine’s tradition with pizza and watching a RomCom. …sigh. It must be love

Thursday 2.16: Merrick made my lunch in the morning! Usually I make the lunches, but today he made mine. Thanks, stud!

So there ya have it… the best part of February in a nut shell. And as they say, “The best is yet to come…” (do they say that?)

Sunday 11.27: I finished another 8 page paper, phew… just crossing things off the list.

Monday 11.28: This was a week of school accomplishments – I finished another huge presentation on Monday.

Tuesday 11.29: I took a break after the big presentation and somehow convinced the Mister to watch Glee with me (which is getting so lame by the way…)

Wednesday 11.30: Cheesecake for breakfast. Yup, and it was certainly the best part of my day.

Thursday 12.1: I came home from clinic and Merrick told me the night was all about me. We had a really nice impromptu, much needed date-night.

Friday 12.2: Date night continued – we got sushi for dinner, got holiday lattes and then saw a dollar movie – 50/50 which was sad and inspiring and funny. A great movie. A great date. A great husband.

Saturday 12.3: I had a nice long run by the beach – it was beautiful, sunny, slight breeze… ah bliss. The Mister and I had a nice day chilling together and then headed to a housewarming party.

Sunday 11.20: Finished up our Nashville adventure with downtown adventures and then a ridiculously long airport wait. Thankfully Casey and Brittany joined us at the airport and brought Taco Bell! Oh and we got bumped up to first class, and I sat next to Jenna Urshowitz from Glee! (Didn’t take a pic, but she did leave her ticket in the seat, which I nabbed, just to verify it was her. It was.)

Monday 11.21: I had a really long 3 hour lunch break which allowed me to come home, relax and start some Thanksgiving sides.

Tuesday 11.22: Got out of class early! Made another delicious Thanksgiving side.

Wednesday 11.23: Got out of clinic early, then had a nice pre-Thanksgiving evening with the Hus.

Thursday 11.24: Happy Thanksgiving! Had a wonderful day with the Hus.

Friday 11.25: Got to sleep in, then enjoy Thanksgiving part II at our friends house.

Saturday 11.26: The Hus and I had a good day together, then we were able to Thanksgiving part III with another friend.

Sunday 11.13: A 5 hour birthday brunch with all you can eat and all you can drink mimosas. And photo bombs.

Monday 11.14: I got out of clinic early and was able to have a productive afternoon plus still enjoy the sunshine

Tuesday 11.15: I got out of class early and had a fun evening with the Mister

Wednesday 11.16: The doc I work with said I’m really acting like a real nurse practitioner! Yay!

Thursday 11.17: I got a really encouraging email from my friend in the morning, which totally made my day! Then I flew to the Nash for part II of the birthday surprise.

Friday 11.18: A fun day in Nashville! Breakfast with my high school friend, shopping with Britt, Starbucks 2 for 1 holiday drinks, and celebrating Casey’s birthday in the evening… it was a great day.

Saturday 11.19: Happy Birthday Casey! Had a great time hanging during the day for Casey’s birthday, then getting ready and the silliness before the engagement party with my peeps. My peeps are fun, I like them.

Sunday 11.6: The Mister and I hit up Costco for a good while. Now I know this is blasphemy to admit out loud, but I HATE Costco. I hate all the people pushing, the standing in the middle of the aisles and people swooping in like vultures for the little samples. So we decided to go right at 10am when it opened to beat the crowds. Apparently there is NO beating the Costco crowds. The place was like a mall at Christmas with too many people and too much stimulation. Somehow though, through the tortuous trip we ended up having a really good time

Monday 11.7: It was a crazy busy day at clinical, but I was able to head to the library on my break and get some good productive studying in.

Tuesday 11.8: I got a love letter from a friend which totally made my day! Good, old fashioned written mail is so special to me. (Anyone want my address?)

Wednesday 11.9: I found out from the Doc I work with on Wednesdays that he really wants me back next semester and feels I’m doing a great job – wooo!

Thursday 11.10: It was a good day… the Hus and I picked up some new furniture, I had a good run, then met my friend for Happy Hour. And of course, happy hour was the best, happiest hour. And after getting happy, I picked up a friend who was staying with us for the weekend. It was a good day.

Friday 11.11: A really fun 11.11.11! Sushi for lunch with peeps, browsed around the mall and frozen yogurt with peeps, and out again for dinner with the same peeps. I like my peeps.

Saturday 11.12: We had a big party at our house for the football game, some bbq’ing, some hard apple ciders, and a W for Michigan. Another great day Plus before all the football fun, I was able to meet up with an old coworker for coffee. I miss those work girls and my old job, so it’s nice to catch up when we can.
